Bad news.
The attempt was abandoned late yesterday morning. Unfortunately, Ged had spent the two weeks running up to the attempt trying to shake off an injury and an infection to his foot. Although he made the decision to set off it was soon apparent that all was not as well as it was thought. Being a two man effort this meant that both he and Mark had to make the decision to bring the attempt to a premature end.
As you may imagine both lads are bitterly disappointed but are already talking about a future attempt, although perhaps not this year due to our impending new arrival to the family, and are considering how they might capitalise on the fitness levels they have built up - watch this space!
Thanks to Colin and Simon for their support over some of the early sections.

Looks like a no go this year - Ged has had a knee infection which hospitalised him for a few days last month and is still recovering.
Mark had talked about running the Tann - Cat again instead but, at the moment, is focusing on the Bullock Smithy.

Last heard from them earlier this evening. They are approaching half way and Mark felt that if they manage it through the night then the end would be in their grasp. Unfortunately, the weather isn't helping, as well as heavy rain, they are also having to contend with thick mist.

Latest news - they are just north of the A69/Hadrian's Wall. At the moment on schedule to finish between about 1 and 2 tomorrow morning. To beat the record they have to get to Kirk Yetholm by 7 so all looks well.

They've done it!
2 days, 7 hours, 18 minutes.
Had a text from Mark saying he's very happy but also very tired.
