Seniors
Training sessions

There are two organised club sessions during the week. The sessions are suitable for runners of all abilities, with the only criteria being that you are able to run comfortably for an hour. Those who are not in a hurry or just want to enjoy a chinwag run at their chosen pace. Those who are in a hurry can forge ahead, but will do regular turnbacks so as to ensure that the group stays together, which gives a chance for those runners to get in extra training.

Club night sessions are generally decided on the day. We are always looking for people to lead the sessions: please volunteer to lead the run if you feel confident in a chosen route and distance.

Mondays

Time: 18:30
Location: Pavilion Gardens car park

Please arrive by 18.25 so we can start on time. Mondays are usually run offroad during Spring, Summer and early Autumn, unless the weather is truly awful.

We normally drive out in the Peak District for a run, which lasts for about one hour. We usually stay on the roads during the winter. These runs also last about an hour.

Wednesdays

Time: 18:30
Location: Buxton swimming pool, Pavilion Gardens

Please arrive by 18.25 so we can start on time. Wednesdays are usually a mixture of road and offroad during the lighter parts of the year, and we tend not to drive out of Buxton, but stay around the surrounding off-road area of the town.

The turnback system is in operation during these sessions to cater for mixed paces. We usually divide into two or three groups, depending on numbers — the “steady” group (runners who can comfortably maintain 9—10 minute miles for an hour), a “medium” group (8—9 minute miles) and the fast group, for competitive runners who enjoy challenging runs, including offroad runs with head torches.

Keep an eye on our facebook page to see details of any special arrangements for any of the groups.

We always welcome new runners, but we do expect that people can run for an hour, covering five to six miles (we do operate a “turn-back” system to make sure that no-one gets left behind). If you would like to talk to someone before you turn up for the first time please contact the club secretary (see contact details).
